Ghemme
Probably Italy’s only town producing the complete trio of products deriving from grapes: red/white wine, vinegar and spirits.
Ghemme is most famous for its vinegar produced by a local company, Ponti, in such huge quantities that it claims to be the world's largest producer.

The landscape struggles to muster much of a slope and at first site the area is not particularly scenic; but venture into the centre of the town and you’ll come across Ghemme's renowned ricetto, a rare, fortified quadrilateral of cobbled streets and old brick buildings, some of which are used by local wine merchants for selling their wares.

Wine can be bought at these cantine though you’ll find little open outside summer weekends; our advice is to head back to the main road and stop off at any of the major cantine: Bianchi, Cantalupo or Rovellotti. You can buy either white or red wine.

Francoli, next to the motorway exit, sells a wide range of wines and liquors produced in its large distillery across the road.
Outside the town, don’t be put off by the plethora of post-war buildings and industrial sheds. If you fancy a stroll through vineyards, and have insufficient time to visit other highly scenic areas such as Boca, make your way up the gentle slope outside the town and explore the many vineyards hidden amongst the trees.
